WASHINGTON -For years now, there has been talk on Capital Hill about Mike Pence’s sexual orientation. Some suspect that his anti-gay rhetoric is nothing more than a cover to conceal his own homosexuality. This apparently happens more often than one would think. In 2007, former Idaho Republican, Larry Craig, who served 18 years in the U.S. Senate, was arrested at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport for attempting to engage in lewd conduct with a man who turned out to be an undercover police officer. Craig supported the Federal Marriage Amendment, which banned marriage rights to same-sex couples and has a 0 rating from the Human Rights Campaign group for his anti-gay comments.
Pence has never publicly commented on these rumors and neither did anyone else, until now. A source who wishes to remain anonymous and will be referred to as, “Pickle”, told Hashtag Fake News that he met Pence in 2014 at Below Zero Lounge, a gay bar in Cincinnati, Ohio. Pence would leave the Governor’s Residence in Indianapolis, Indiana, and make the almost two and a half hour drive to Cincinnati, where he would disguise himself as a woman and frequent the lounge. “I knew him as Adrian, a middle-aged cross dresser who loved white Wine and singing Karaoke,” Pickle said. He went on to state that he had no idea who Pence was and the pair became close friends.
It wasn’t until 2015 when Pickle says that Pence’s true identity was revealed to him. “It was early on a Friday night and only a few of us were at the bar so the music was off and the news was on. I remember talking about Bruce Jenner because there were rumors about him transitioning into a woman. He didn’t confirm it yet. Then a news story came on about this Mike Pence guy who was Governor of Indiana, signing a law that would allow discrimination against LGBT people. Of course I started talking about what an asshole that guy must be, and I remember Adrian getting like really mad about it.” Pickle went on to say that the argument shifted to freedom of religion when Pence got irate. “Adrian’s voice was always soft and low but she barked at me in a loud deep voice, grabbed her purse, and stormed out of the bar.” Pickle said later that night he was thinking about the argument and looking at a picture of Adrian when he realized who she was. “This is the picture I was looking at. It’s the only one I have of her. I was stunned and didn’t know how to approach this. I considered her a true friend.” Pickle said.
Pickle reported that Pence returned to the bar the following weekend and when confronted about his identity, he admitted it. He stated that initially Pence tried to intimidate him until he was reassured that his secret was safe. They remained friends until shortly before the Trump presidential campaign in 2016, when Pence told Pickle that he wouldn’t be coming around any more and ended their friendship. “There was never anything sexual between us, but I felt like he broke up with me like I was his boyfriend. Just ended it. I haven’t heard from him since,” Pickle said.
Hashtag Fake News reached out to Below Zero owner, Nigel Cotterill, but he declined to comment and would not identify Pence or the two other men in the photo provided by Pickle, but did confirm that the photo was taken in the Cabaret Room at the bar. Vice President Pence and the Trump Administration have not responded to multiple requests for a comment.
