WASHINGTON – Dick’s Sporting Goods CEO, Ed Stack, announced today on Good Morning America that the sporting goods retailer is banning sales of assault-style weapons across all of its stores in response to the school shooting in Parkland, Florida.
When Stack was asked if Dick’s is prepared for possible backlash from consumers, he replied, “We know that this isn’t going to make everyone happy but when we take a look at what those kids and the parents and the heroes in the school, what they did, our view was if the kids can be brave enough to organize like they this, we can be brave enough to take these out of here.”
Stack may not have been prepared for backlash coming from the White House. President Trump tweeted an angry message about the announcement which befuddled many of his followers.
While it is possible that President Trump wasn’t aware of the sexual connotation of his tweet, some of his less educated and bigoted followers decided to click the unfollow button. One user known on Twitter as, @RedneckHickkk4Merica, commented, “You’re a let down Mr. Precident. I aint followin no homo no where.” The White House declined to comment on the tweet.
